Scrivet
I get this status message with the files I had been successfully sharing for several hours. " Error: Can't open :torrent file : " C:\ ' my place for down loads '. The files were shared immediately after D/L and the ONLY anomaly might be that I did view the videos after downloading. After that the issue started.Efforts I have taken are to copy the torrent to other directories and push the share by force recheck as well. I checked the options to ensure the torrent location is correct and it is correct. This had been a random issue in the past with one or two files per quarter time frame but this last error spans a single evening of D/L's or eight files from the same seeder. This is really an issue as sharing is what this is all about and it makes me feel lousy if I cannot. I have never, ever had any issue prior to this and I have been using uTorrent forever. Any help is appreciated so thank you in advance. Version 3.1.3 ( build 27220 ) 32 bitScrivet
jbebad
It has happend to me several times also. The problem is (as far as I can determine), uTorrent upon completion of the download will move the torrent file to the directory you specified in the Prefrences. However, uTorrent fails to update its own database. resume.dat (?) to let et know where the torrent file is now located. (This does not happen all the time - at least for me. But it does happen once in a while.) It thinks it is where you keep all torrents you intend to download (that are not completed) - again Preferences. If you want to get rid of the error - just move the torrent back to that directory. The message will be away (perhaps you will need to restart uTorrent). I just ignore the message. Scrivet
Ah ha, thanks for the info. I will try that and see what happens. I will get back as soon as I determine if this is the fix. Thanks again.Scrivet
Algol
I'm having the same problem.Everything was working fine but yesterday new torrent-files didn't save automaticly like the use to and torrents didn't auto load and now I'm getting the "Error: Cant' open .torrent file..".I've tried all the solutions i can find on the internet but nothing works. This has never happen before.
jbebad
Algol: Well I know you have not tried all the solutions, otherwise you would have been able to remove the error. uTorrent, upon completion of the download and how you set up your Preferences -> Directorys, will move the torrent to the completed directory. Sometimes it fails to update its internal database on the new location (assuming it has one), or use the path specified in its search for the torrent. Usually the error message says where it can't read it from. Just find the torrent and put it back there. You may need to stop and start uTorrent again. Worst comes to worst, just ignore the error message.
Algol
Well of course i haven't tried everything but i have tried everything I've found (as i said in my post).I have change directories that they should download too and change so that they move the files to another dir when done and set that to auto load. Tried re-checks, restarts but so far nothing. The torrent files are where they should be and i cant ignore the error since there are no files seeding. jbebad
What exactly does the error message (omit the specific filename) say? Give example of your directory setup in Preferences.Does this happen with all torrents you are trying to seed?
