A connection not needed

A torrent with multiple files. I am connected to a peer that has data that I'm not interested in and I have data that that peer isn't interested in at this point. Even though none of us is interested in any data, a connection is established for a long time. Don't see a reason for these kind of connections as it can slow down the data transfer if the number of connections is close to the max numbers. I think that these connections should be disconnected until one of the peers is interested in some data.
