uT >< Snapstream BTV

There is an incompatibility when using uTorrent and Snapstream BeyondTV link (server / client).

I am not sure what the source is, but after much hair pulling / face on desk banging, found that when I shut down uTorrent, BTV link worked.

BTVlink streams content from the BTV server to client machines. When uTorrent was running, all other machines in my LAN could not run BTVlink.

If anyone has a suggestion / work around to fix this bug, I would be grateful.

The bug showed up around March, 2012, which may mean an upgrade changed something in the code or settings.

I eventually removed uTorrent so I could use my PVR.

The only hint I have is that there was a continuous polling for software upgrades that conflicted with BTV

Thanks, in advance...

Probably not this.

It's probably an issue with UPnP on your network.

And what do you suggest I should do to investigate 'this issue'?

How / where do I look into this?

First is find out how BTV does its content distribution by protocol and see what ports it needs, etc.

Additionally, you can try to find out by trial and error with other features of uTorrent.

The polling for updates isn't the cause because:

1> It's not actually continuous

2> It's HTTP directed at a single server

BTV v4.0 uses the following ports:

8129: Beyond TV uses this port for access to the Web Admin interface.

1755: Beyond TV uses this port to stream recorded content.

8080: Beyond TV uses this port to stream live TV.

8135: Beyond TV uses this port to download shows.

UPnP is turned off on our router.
