Not sure what the issue is but for whatever the reason when I download a torrent, it acts as if it's starting then when I check the status it always listed as "Stopped" and that makes me start the torrent myself. Not a big deal but wanted to report it and see if this was common with the new build?

This happens with anything be it Magnet or .Torrent files. In fact just earlier I grabbed another file and this time I used .torrent file and it did the same thing. I chose what i wanted to download and then clicked ok then i had to manually start it myself

Any other suggestions?

You are aware that Preferences -> UI Settings has a check-box "Don't start the download automatically". Is it Checked? Are you placing the torrents in the automatic load directory? Do you have the "Show a window that displays the files inside the torrent in advance mode" checked?

Remember that magnets and torrents are handled differently. Search the forum.

Im also having this same problem as of 3.2.... Back before 3.2 wether it be magnet or torrent files id open them with utorrent and the download would start automaticly. Now when I click on magnet links or download torrent files by default the download is STOPPED and I have to manually go back and press the (play) START TORRENT button. For both magnet and torrent files. It really isn't a HUGE deal but i just wanted to add that the OP is right. uTorrent wasn't like this pre 3.2. thanks.

If you bothered to check your Perferences -> Directories there is a field with a check box called "Automatically load .torrents from" with a path. Torrents placed in that directory are - guess what - automattically loaded; your Perferences -> UI Settings has a section titled "When Adding Torrents" - within that category is a field/checkbox "Don't start the download automatically". "Show a window that displays the file inside the torrent in advanced mode" check box allows you to see files inside a torrent and allows to de-select files you do not want to download.

Magnets - as I have stated before - are different. There is no metadata available for you to look at to de-select files -- until the metadata is download. If you are seeing the advance "Add" dialog where it diesplays files - in the case of magnets - you willl notice a spining arrow that tells you that uTorrent is trying to download the torrent from those peers it can connect with. It can take a min. or 20 hours depending on availability, or it may never download the metadata - assuming that existing peers are not online.

If you want the ability to load and go (not modifiy this list of files you are getting), then setup uTorrent that way. But again as I said before, how magnets are handled has been evolving. Different versions handle magnets differently. Get the latest or RC/stable release. Try it. Change the preferences to sute your needs. You may be successful or you may not. If you do not like the way it works, post a message in Enhancements or if you think it is a bug, post another message under trobleshooting. Remember that some people are happy with the way it works, Others not. Not everyone will be happy. Most people want the ability to modify the list of files they are downloading - and therefor do not want/use auto-start.

I personally do not use magnets unless absolutely necessary. I am not a magnet fan.

.torrent files and magnet links both used to behave the exact same way on my system - they started automatically. I came back later and they were finished.

Now (v3.1.3) they start, and after a minute or so, they stop. I have to manually restart them, which is a pita. Only torrents loaded from RSS feeds will continue without manual intervention.

Does anyone actually know what is going on?

-fm

ps. It should also be noted, these torrents contain only one file, so waiting for the user to "select files" would be plain stupid.

foomonger: It may be stupid for you, but it has been reported by numerious people that they do not like the naming convention of the files defined within a torrent or do not wish to store them in the default directory provided in Preferences -> Directory. Therefor, they wish to modify those names/locations (even on a single file torrent/magnet) prior to downloading. For torrents, uncheck "Don't Start ..." and uncheck "Show a window that Displays the files .... " in Preferences -> UI Settings. If that does not give you what you want for magnets (and torrents) post a request in Enancements thread or go back to the older version that you like.

To all the smart people here.... Read what It has in BOLD

Focus of 3.2.1:

- Windows 8 Support

- Add Torrent Dialog improvements

Download the new version now!

Changes from 3.2.0:

-- 2012-06-26: Version 3.2.1 Beta 1 (build 27554)

- Fix: Single file magnet links were missing file extensions

- Fix: Single file torrents were missing

- Fix: Magnets would be added in stopped state

- Change: If we changed the torrent name before the metadata completed in the "add torrent"

dialog, those changes would not be applied to the torrent; the name field will

disabled while the magnet data is downloading util that's changed.

- Fix: Saving a torrent in the root of a drive (e.g. "X:") would save into the "add torrent"

history list as "X:" instead of "X:\" [Note: This fix is not yet complete]

- Change: don't allow empty names in add torrent dialog

Something is clearly wrong here.

My "Directories" options are all blank, no folders set, no check marks.

(I have never needed or used those options.)

'Don't start the download automatically' under "UI Settings" is UNchecked.

Torrents from standard torrent links start fine (automatically).

Torrents from magnet links do not start, I need to right-click then start.

Using Windows 7 64-bit, and uTorrent 3.2 Stable.

This did WORK FINE before, so some version broke this.

It is possible that this was fixed earlier, but bug appeared again, this is called "Regression".
