slow downloading from strong torrents?

I believe the my settings are correct as I can get high download speeds (about 2.5MB/s) but i notice some torrents with plenty of seeds (eg. 50+) can give consistently low download speeds (eg. 25KB/s) so it takes days/weeks to download something that would naturally take only a few hours.

I am assuming the problem is with the swarm (although could be wrong).

Any ideas?

edit: the upload rate of the torrent is often much more than the download rate

Yep I've read the faq and tried those things. As mentioned my torrents often work perfectly. I have never had any problems whatsoever downloading from my 2 favorite private trackers.

But once in a while there is a well seeded popular torrent on a public tracker that has very slow speeds. Pehaps this post does not belong in the troubleshooting section as I'm very sure the problem is not on my side.
