Gamerman100 Posted July 13, 2012 Report Posted July 13, 2012 So I've used uTorrent for years without issue. Earlier this past week however I've started having a problem wherein the torrents will download and upload fine for five to ten minutes, and then the upload and download speed decreases down to 1-5kb/s. Generally my download speed is approximately 250kb/s with an upload of 50kb/s. The strange thing is that restarting the client restores the speed, but only for another five or ten minutes until the problem repeats itself again. The problem initially started when I had bypassed the router and plug the cable into the computer directly from the antenna as a result of the router dying. But I've since replaced the router and the problem persists. I have followed the setup guide, restarted uTorrent, my computer and router after all the various fixes. The OpenOffice.org torrent experiences the same difficulties. Protocol Encryption is enabled, bt.tcp_rate_control is disabled and peer.lazy_bitfield is enabled. Net.max_halfopen is set to 100 and I've never modified the TCPIP.sysThe network status light is green and the port checker in the speed guide says the port is open. The Results of the Speed Guide is 838.9kib/s (102.3KB/s) Upload and 1.4Mbit/s (166.4KB/s) Download. I'm running Windows Vista 64bit, using a Linksys WRT54GL Router and Avast Antivirus. Technically McAffee is installed as well, but its been disabled entirely to my knowledge. The internet is Wireless High Speed Broadband from a local ISP (Neighbourhood Wireless). The following are the results of Glasnost Test:Is your upload traffic rate limited? There is no indication that your ISP rate limits your uploads. Is your download traffic rate limited? There is no indication that your ISP rate limits your downloads. However, some of the measurements were affected by noise, which limits Glasnost ability to detect rate limiting.Details:There is no indication that your ISP rate limits your BitTorrent downloads.
