returnexitsuccess Posted July 25, 2012 Report Posted July 25, 2012 I'm running uTorrent 3.1.3 (build 27207) [32-bit] and Windows 7 64-bit. Sometimes when I restart my computer all recent torrents added and any changes I made to other torrents are lost. This never happens when just restarting uTorrent, it only happens when I shut down Windows. It happens most of the time however occasionally it will keep the new torrents and not have any issues. I do not receive any error messages or any indication that anything was wrong. All the files from those torrents are still there as well as the torrent files themselves so there isn't any lost data except for within uTorrent itself. Any indication as to what could be causing this problem is greatly appreciated.
amber89 Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 3.1.3 beta - correct? Could be glitch.all recent torrents added and any changes I made to other torrents are lost.Torrents that were active are lost? You've double checked the directory path in uT where they're to be stored? What "changes" do u make to other torrents? If it works "part of time" but not "all of time" sounds like conflict, bug, ???Is there a diff in way you shut uT down that causes it to forget? Are the times it forgets an unexpected shutdown / crash of Windows? The path to stored files / torrents hasn't changed? The files needed for downloaded & to resume d/l torrents are dht.dat & resume.dat. Is there any way these could be getting damaged / erased? The files needed to retain
mcaspi Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 Update to the latest stable version. It takes some time for uTorrent to shutdown. You can see this in the Task Manager. Close it and wait until you shutdown.

The changes I mainly make adding things like labels or changing the seeding goal on old torrents, these old torrents remain in the list but the changes are reverted. From what I can tell there is no difference in the way I shutdown uTorrent. No paths have changed, I can always just go in, re-add the torrents and it checks and recognizes that everything is there.
amber89 Posted July 26, 2012 Report Posted July 26, 2012 As mcaspi said, try latest stable version - as ALL betas could have bugs. And as he said, apps like uT should be shut down B4 rebooting. On my machine, uT shuts down in couple secs, but u must check yours.Since having probs, do a clean install of latest stable (believe still 3.2). Probably best to uninstall current ver. Not sure if would let u install older ver over top of newer one, anyway.Though a pain, I'd start w/ new / clean settings.dat & dht.dat. Can BU current ones, then del from default location. You could print screens of preference pages to make re entering settings easier. I use Screen Shot Captor, but even clipboard ("Print Screen") will do for this.
klubow Posted August 12, 2012 Report Posted August 12, 2012 The same happens to me, especially after system crashdoes uTorrent not save state of active and finished downloads ?
