speed test confusion

ok i did the speed test and this was the result

upload = 10kbps or 1.2kB/s

download = 345kbps or 43.1 kB/s

now my problem is when i go to set the speed....do i put in 1.2 and 43.1 or do i put in 10 and 345

i've noticed that i can't use . in it....also with the pull down options it doesn't have 345 connection option....only 384 and 512.....so which one should i chose.....

yes i don't really know what i'm doing...hehe....

i'm just trying to get the maximum out of the program....even though what ever i do i can't get rid of the red light, i've resigned to the fact that i'll never be able to get it green.....i'm just trying to get the best download with the red light......and sometimes i'm getting up to 30kb/s...thats ok isn't it??

also...why does the speed test keep changing the result?....now it says....398kbps

why did i do it again???....lol....cause i needed to get the capitals right for the kbps stuff....

Um.. your upload rate is messed up. Close the client and anything transferring, then run it again.

ok i shut it down and stuff and restarted

but do you want me to re run the speed test?

now that i restarted...the download is lower...bummer

and what numbers do i put in for the upload download speed

Yeah, stop anything that uses bandwidth and rerun the test. What site are you using?

ok i did the test again.....i was just using one of the top three that were there.....CA i think

geeps now it says

up= 61 kbps or 7.6 KB/s

down = 619 kbps or 77.4 KB/s

That's still kind of low...

And try using http://www.testmy.net

See if you can find a mirror close to you.

Read the speed guide sticky thread but with such low upload don't expect to much

hmm....i was happy with 28 kb/s

now that i put the other numbers in its down to 4 kb/s

so i should probale go back to what i originally put in?

like do i put 384 bk/s in the drop down menu?

or do i put 444 in the download section and not 3554.56 and such

i know....however i will never get rid of the red light....so i'm just trying to make the best of what i can get.....

i've tried port forwarding and such and had big probs....i would say cause i'm on a network.....

speed guide Ctrl+G; just pick your setting. you dont need to put anything in the download section

thanks for helping every one.....if the highest i can get is 20kp/s because i can't get the green light....then i'll just have to put up with it.....i only really want a couple of things anyway......so i'm not going to stress out about it anymore
