trouble opening file after utorrent update

Hi, well I have been downloading files for many years now with absolutely no problems using utorrent but was using a really outdated version, so I decided to update to 3.2 and now I cannot get ne of my newly downloaded files to open. Before when I downloaded something such as a program they were uploaded to a set location and files appeared that I can open and continue to install the program, however ever since the update they just save as a blank page icon and they are unable to open without windows asking me to choose a location to open them at. I understand some files need to be open with programs such as winrar but I never had to take those extra steps before and nothing seems to be working at all. The programs I am trying to download are also programs that gave me no trouble like this before. Am I doing something wrong here? Thanks for ne advice
