tablesalt Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 I got this message on all my torrents, one of them was a half-finished 50GB-erI tried Advanced>Set Download Location... but it was alread in the right place.I did a forced re-check and the percentage went back to 0%Now what
ciaobaby Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 Are your downloads on an external drive? Was it unplugged? What OS?What client version?
tablesalt Posted September 28, 2012 Author Report Posted September 28, 2012 The downloads are on an external drive. It is frequently not connected to the computer but obviously it was connected when I wast trying to download.Windows 7 / just upgraded to uTorrent 3.2
ciaobaby Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 3.2 or 3.2.1?And do you close the client down completely before removing the drive?
tablesalt Posted September 28, 2012 Author Report Posted September 28, 2012 3.2No, sometimes I don't close uTorrent before removing the drive, and I never safely eject the drive. It's never been a problem before.
ciaobaby Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 Update to 3.2.1 where most, if not all, of the known bugs in 3.2 have been fixed.
tablesalt Posted September 28, 2012 Author Report Posted September 28, 2012 When I go Help>Check for updates it says there are no new versions available. It was asking me to update it for a while and I just did before. It would have updated to the newest one, wouldn't it?But it clearly says uTorrent 3.2
ciaobaby Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 3.2 will not update to 3.2.1 automatically unless you have "pUdate to beta versions" checked in Preferences -> GeneralStop all torrents, shut down the client completely, and download from here and install manually.
ciaobaby Posted September 28, 2012 Report Posted September 28, 2012 Fire up the client and recheck and restart the torrents, in groups of maybe five or ten at a time rather than all at once.I have a lot of my downloads on external drives but I don't have uTorrent starting with Windows simply because I can switch the USB hub between computer and TV.ALSO with external drives and torrent clients you should assign a fixed drive letter (Computer Management -> Drive Manager) to your devices, start with J: upwards that way they will ALWAYS have the same designation rather than the drive letters moving around if Windows starts without one drive connected.
tablesalt Posted September 28, 2012 Author Report Posted September 28, 2012 Okay I'll do all that to save it from happening again, but I think this one's lost. Re-checking does nothing. Thanks anyway.
tablesalt Posted September 29, 2012 Author Report Posted September 29, 2012 Just made some progress. I went to the Files tab in uTorrent and right-clicked 'Relocate' on a file I new wasn't fully downloaded, and chose the appropriate location. Now it seems to be re-checking that file okay. For some reason, Set Download Location doesn't achieve anything. At this rate I'll have to 'Relocate' all the files individually, but it's probably better than starting again with the download.
