kharlo
my dsl max speed is 120 kb/sec. i achieve that speed often on utorrent. but, the current downloading file varies from 1-100 kb/s, spending most time around 50 kb/s. rarely at 100 kp/s.so would it be of no help to upgrade my dsl to 300 kb/s since this download rarely hits my current limit, or would it help somehow?thanks. ciaobaby
Torrent download speed really depends on how fast the active peers allow your client to get the blocks.
kharlo
so your answer is no, faster DSL will not help me with this file?
ciaobaby
Possibly not However, are you allowing for uTorrent rates being in kBps (kilo BYTES /s) and your ISP rate is in kbps (kilo BITS /s) 1 B/s = 8 b/s
rafi
so would it be of no help to upgrade my dsl to 300 kb/s since this download rarely hits my current limit, or would it help somehow?Test yourself with a ubuntu torrent (that has good seeds). If you max your connection speed - increasing your speed will help.

rafi
For this file - higher connection speed will definitely not help, if this is what you meant.
ciaobaby
That should be Ubuntu, and it is a Linux distribution, the idea of downloading one is that it is a torrent that will have plenty of active peers, so is a good candidate for determining exactly what speeds your system is capable of achieving.
