DCSemi Posted April 22, 2006 Report Posted April 22, 2006 As soon as I open µTorrent and it starts to download... My internet connection become *SO SLOW*. It can takes up to 2 minutes to load a webpage... I'm on ADSL with Globetrotter... which have a really good speed. DHT on µTorrent is turned off, I have the "green light" and I have the Windows Firewall running but that's all. I got nothing else, no anti-virus, anti-spyware and sh*t like that.So I'm asking you, what should I do to fix this problem because it's kinda frustrating to not use µTorrent when I'm on the Internet... I wanna download torrents while using my computer you know...Thanks!
Firon Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 keep your connection count low, leave net.max_halfopen at default
DCSemi Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 it is at 8...i still get some crappy speed while surfing the web...Took about 1min 30secs to load µtuorrent's forums...
DCSemi Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 ??? What should I do with it? How do I patch it?
DCSemi Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 The program tells me that I don't need to patch TCPIP.SYS...
Firon Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 probably SP1 then. and what is your global/per torrent connection count?
DCSemi Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 i didn't know what you were looking for exactly.... so here's a screenshot!http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/semisubmachine/ss1.jpgNote that I haven't touched to that section of the program...
DCSemi Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 Why are you asking for that? I never told my upload speed was 1mbit....You know, i asked for help about my speed problem using µTorrent, so I'd like to receive that help... if that comment should have help me... sorry... but I donno how it could help. SO please tell me... I really wanna get rid of this f****n' problem. Also, I wanna get rid of Azureus+JRE... that's why I'm making so much effort to use µTorrent.
Ultima Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 It's not that hard to figure out which option you chose in the Speed Guide, and unless your connection is really 1mbit up, then you didn't configure it correctly. Incorrect configuration is the leading cause of lag, slow speeds, and messed up connections (lol sounds like one of those anti-smoking commercials xD). Anyway, that's why I'm asking.
maku8ex Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 ur screenie shows that u run emule too....that along with µT might eat up ALL ur upload bandwidth....so as a result ur download bandwidth suffers tooclose emule...etc
DCSemi Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 Now... I'm getting this message from the Speed test stuff...Could not upload to http://64.81.79.40/SpeedTests/113/upload.cgi : java.io.IOException: Server recieved 0bytes, expecting 51200
Ultima Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 That server's probably messed up. Choose another server to run the speed test.
DCSemi Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 Well, I just set my connection to xx/512k ... and it's still hella slow on the internet... What's next?!
DCSemi Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 dslreports.com speed test result on 2006-04-23 14:10:27 EST:4040 / 41703Your download speed : 4040 kbps or 505.1 KB/sec. Your upload speed is much faster than down.. have you tweaked?Your upload speed : 41703 kbps or 5212.9 KB/sec.Just got that...So tell me, why µTorrent say I'm downloading 2 torrents at a combined speed of 40k/s... I'm on the web at speed of 2.1k/s or 0.4k/s if I have 505.1 KB/s of bandwitdh...
Ultima Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 Whoa... that's a mighty fast connection O.OTest a few times, and take the average, as a single test doesn't tell you enough. After you do that, select the corresponding choice in the Speed Guide. Also, are you using a router? If so, have you tried connecting directly to the modem?
DCSemi Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 Responding to your edit: Don't worry, i tested it a few times, and that's the average... that's why I'm telling you the following message At 200, it still slows.I have no router, i'm behind Win XP Firewall, that's all. My modem isn't the source of my problem, because everything is allright... I can download a lot using eMule, LimeWire, or direct download on the web and get some 100k/s ++ speed. But AS SOON AS I START µTorrent... everything drops down. I can't surf on the web (except at <2.0k/s speed... interesting eh?), any other downloads is at 5k/s... (wow!!!)So, please, don't tell me my modem is the problem, µTorrent is the problem.
Firon Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 eMule, Limewire, and HTTP use virtually no connections, so they have no comparison to BT.Put your per torrent connections to 50 and global to 100, see how that works for you.
DCSemi Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 Okay... i'll try it out.I guess it worked... lemme see in a few hours if it's the same... but so far, my torrents are a bit faster, but my internet is what it is supposed to be.Seems allright for now... Ima cross my fingers ! EDIT: Worked for about 5 mins... now it's still slow as hell. My torrents are at a nice speed but the rest of my internet connection simply sucks... 0.7k/s while surfing the web now. (I just tried out on Microsoft site)
Firon Posted April 23, 2006 Report Posted April 23, 2006 Your modem doesn't seem to like a lot of connections.
DCSemi Posted April 23, 2006 Author Report Posted April 23, 2006 The problems started about a week ago... while I was trying to test µTorrent. Never had any problems with any BT before. As soon as I tried µTorrent, I donno why, but everything started to be fuc*ed up. Even Azureus! But since Azureus is on Java... well...
