legionofdoombg Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 I'm using uTorrent 3.2 and there is a strange problem for me. When i'm downloading a torrent file which is full with .rar files i try to download the 1st parts so i can unrar while downloading... when i start unraring uTorrent slows down to 0 kb/s until my unraring is stopped or completed... For me this is very annoying because i need to unrar the files as fast as i can and that slows me down very much... Where might be the problem?
DreadWingKnight Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 You're trying to open the files before they're downloaded. That's where the problem is.
legionofdoombg Posted October 26, 2012 Author Report Posted October 26, 2012 That's not the problem... Even if i extract something that's already downloaded the utorrent still stops downloading or uploading!
ciaobaby Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 Sounds like you need a better CPU that can handle both operations simultaneously.File compression/decrompression is a highly processor intensive operation, so background processes get a lower thread priority while it is running.
legionofdoombg Posted October 26, 2012 Author Report Posted October 26, 2012 Hmm i did it before with the same PC which is not so bad... still i have 4 quad core... This thing is from recent!
ciaobaby Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 If you are running Vista, Windows 7 or 8 check the processor scheduling settings. Setting "Background Services" should give downloading more resouces than decompression.Though of course, that will mean that decompression will be slower. AND more cores doesn't always mean "faster".
legionofdoombg Posted October 26, 2012 Author Report Posted October 26, 2012 I tried doing that and there was no difference... I know cores dont mean faster but i have done that thing before... i'm not able to do it from 1 month maybe!
DreadWingKnight Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 And what changed when things stopped working?
legionofdoombg Posted October 26, 2012 Author Report Posted October 26, 2012 I want to do the 2 things in the same time because there is times when i unrar huge files and i need to keep downloading!
DreadWingKnight Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 That doesn't answer my question.
jsillup Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 Make sure "Only transfer when system is idle" is not checked under Global Rate Limit Options.
legionofdoombg Posted October 26, 2012 Author Report Posted October 26, 2012 I fixed it by installing older version and everything works fine! Thank you all!
DreadWingKnight Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 That doesn't actually fix the problemAND IT STILL DOESN'T ANSWER WHAT I ASKED OF YOU.
