µTorrent 3.4 RC

Recommended Posts

I'll hold off trying out qbitTorrent for awhile then..

3.0.8 and 3.0.9 are unaffected and being OpenSource (on GitHub) probably won't take too long to be fixed.

In 3.4 and 3.3.2 builds there is a typo with text "Though not recommmended, you can turn ..." --> recommended.

Also the counter for torrents with labels is wrong in the 3.4 build

µTorrent 3.4 alpha build 30127 is now available for download...No changelog.

Still No connections to UTP when seeding!

There must have been an update as 3.4.0.30132 is currently available.

Still No connections to UTP when seeding!

It's a wonder why I don't see anyone using/testing 3.4 alpha in the peer/seed list

I've just installed 3.4.0.30132 for a test and found the tray icon is invisible under Windows XP.

A regression. You know what to do, we "solved" it for 3.3.2 ...

Some feedback on 3.4 (30127) which I just tried out for the first time (on XPsp3):

In the torrent list, the Name of the selected torrent is not readable, due to the text color being black. For all other columns, the text color is white. The background color of the selected row is dark blue, which is why the black text is not readable.

The icon for the Start button is now a circular arrow, which in all my other applications means "reload" or "refresh". When I first used 3.4, I wondered where the Start button went to (I have text labels turned off). IMO, the current icon is misleading. The old icon is far more accurate as to what this button does.

The icon for the Stop button is now a Stop sign. This makes sense, but on my 1600x1200 desktop, its so tiny that the icon looks more like a circle than an octagon, and again I wondered where the the button went to. The old square icon was much clearer (easier to read) as to what this button does.

The Pause button has been removed. I use this button all the time, and would prefer to keep this on the toolbar if at all possible. Yes this function is on the context menu, but that's just not handy for something so commonly used.

Turn OFF your 'sandboxing' application.

I would also like to know how to make uTorrent install itself for all users into Program Files instead of installing into my profile in AppData.

Move the entire folder to where you prefer it be so it becomes an "encapsulated installation".

Why the hell do I have to move the folder afterward instead of choosing where to install first...

It's not a good thing to force install, and especially a very bad thing to install anything in user profile except pure datas or settings...

regards...

If this was 3.3.2, I'd be worried... ;) it can be interesting to know what the update *logic* really is now

3.4 build 30193 still has the issue with wrong counting of labeled torrents.
