µTorrent 3.4 RC

Well' date=' I can tell you that the new build (Build 30269) does not launch for me (at least not with the /RECOVER switch) - it just crashes.[/quote']

For each new published Build uTorrent one can randomly download another Build, Typically 2 but up to 4 (to date) higher than the latest published uTorrent with a size of 1,065,296 B; 1041 kB Explorer).

This uTorrent usually does not work.

If this happens you must re-download until you get the uTorrent with with the latest published Build number

Ummmmm, that seems pretty screwed up ........ especially given that they can't even bother to put the version in the name (and I don't see why that can't *easily* be done).

I mean really, you can't even tell WHICH build you're getting then, UNTIL you run it - and you better be sure you're running it as a stand-alone, or you're probably *really* screwed .....

I download then check the size,

OK) size Approx 1244 kB Explorer; 1274 kB absolute and slowly increasing for the present builds

NOK) size Exactly 1041 Explorer; 1,065,296 B absolute

I have seen this for the last 5 builds, but it might have been occurring earlier

You can run the exe as an install and the Build Number will appear in the initial install window, then cancel the install, but size is the fastest way.

I guess the devs are just testing the update system. It's a beta, it *is* also for testing features... No sense wasting time "understanding" that...

To the issue itself - this new update system targeted at "auto quite update" @appdata is a pain... BUT as long as standalone install/update works, I'm happy ... :)

Has anyone seen this happen with automatic downloads???

I have not

I agree

but it would be nice of them to warn us.

I have asked uTorrent several times, but the silence is deafening

They did...

-- 2013-10-04: Version 3.4 (build 30193)

- Feature: Auto-update will install update automatically if silent_auto_updates_autorestart is enabled.

Plus you can count how many times "update" is mentioned in the changelogs... ;p

I meant about the unpublished versions, all the same size, that don't work.

I haven`t seen any mention of them

You've got it... :P

Man, ... You really should give up this silly vendetta/hate campaign or whatever it is you think you are doing, because you are making it far too easy for me to pull your strings and get you dancing :)

All I need to do is leave you a little bit of tasty bait laying around and you're on it like a rat on a sandwich.

The 'Start Torrent' button is actually a restart icon. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=restart+icon

The 'Stop Torrent' button is actually a pause icon. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=pause+icon

Please fix these simple things and use the correct icon for each function. It's not the first time this really basic and silly mistake has been made with the interface.

Yeah, but this time it is by design :)

Then why are there commands for START, STOP, and PAUSE? Is PAUSE going to be removed and the STOP function renamed to PAUSE? Is START going to be renamed to RESTART?

Whatever is going on let's just have some consistency and standards - don't use a PAUSE icon for a STOP button, or a RESTART icon for a START button.

it says beta build 30267 is available but update keeps trying unsuccessfully to install 30269 with a failed to install notice. It did the same with build 30244, it tried to install 30246 unsuccessfully with a failed to update notice. I manually downloaded and installed 30246 which caused some of utorrents settings to be changed. So i don't want to manually install this time. Why the mismatch of the build numbers??? :/
