xenador Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 Is this required?I am running uTorrent 3.2.2 on Windows 7 x64. When I first upgraded and reset my preferences, I had no problem. Recently I have been having "Disk Overload" because I forgot to enable "increase automatic cache size when thrashing". I go to enable this, check the box, click "Apply" and an error box saying "Please enter a computer name." pops up. When the box pops up, it also takes me to the "Remote" page of the preferences, but the title remains the same as the previous page I was on (whichever I have clicked "OK" or "Apply" from). This happens even if I got to preferences and all I click is "OK".I have no idea what is going on. Is uTorrent remote required? I couldn't find that anywhere in the Help / FAQ. Did I get hacked? For now I am leaving uTorrent off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thank you.
ciaobaby Posted November 17, 2012 Report Posted November 17, 2012 Preferences -> Remote -> provide a name.
xenador Posted November 17, 2012 Author Report Posted November 17, 2012 This doesn't answer my question.Is uTorrent remote required now? I do not want to set it up and have never been asked to. Is this something new in v3.2.2?
ciaobaby Posted November 18, 2012 Report Posted November 18, 2012 Is uTorrent remote required now?No.Is this something new in v3.2.2?Not especially.It's simply a logic error in coding, the problem is seemingly created by the end user not adding a name after checking and unchecking the "[ ] Enable uTorrent Remote Access".Yes; it shouldn't happen but it does, and until the developer(s) fix the logic error you simply provide a name whether using remote or not.
