ArJunaBug Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 Since I downloaded the latest version, now when I start a new torrent download it goes through a "Checking" of the files. This is very unusual behavior and for a large torrent can take considerable time before it starts to download.Does anyone have any idea why this might be happening? Thanks
ciaobaby Posted November 27, 2012 Report Posted November 27, 2012 A check would only be done if some pieces of the torrent existed on your system before you started the job, Is this the case?Or is the download starting from scratch? Also:Client version and build?Operating System?Magnets or .Torrents?
ArJunaBug Posted August 15, 2013 Author Report Posted August 15, 2013 Sorry I am so slow in responding to your question. I was hoping this would get fixed in subsequent releases, but it has not. I have been an avid user of utorrent for many years and this is definitely a more recent problem. To answer your question, utorrent is checking even new files that have not downloaded any pieces yet. Another thing is that when utorrent crashes, which is all too frequent for my liking, it has to recheck all these downloads, even the ones that have not started downloading yet. It is very clear they have not started as they say 0.0% and the directories for the files have not even been created yet. I often start a dozen large torrents 8-15gb each at once and it is so frustrating to watch it utorrent slowly check non-existent files before it will begin downloading.I can say with 100% certainty that this was never a problem in the past, but since about version 3 it started happening.
