droidware
Hi, I have no idea how, but since updating my torrent a few days ago, I keep losing access to my DNS server.I have done a careful stop and start of all programs running (WIN XP HOME) and when I stop Torrent, after about 45 seconds I can ping my DNS server successfully. About 60 seconds or less after starting Torrent, I ping my DNS server and get 100% fail. Please help, how do I roll back to an earlier version without losing all my upload and download stats etc. Many thanksdroidware

ciaobaby
Windows DNS?BIND on WindowsBIND on Linux?Cacheing server only?Authoritative for some domain names?Recursive queries allowed? If your DNS server is a registrar provided nameserver (with a domain name) running uTorrent queries on it WILL bring it down simply because they are not set up for cacheing or recursive queries. ciaobaby
Do you own a domain name? Or is 'your' DNS server simply the IPs that your ISP provided when you created your account?
droidware
yes I do own a domain a domain name but currently my DNS server is simply the IPs that my ISP provided when I created my account account, it is always a choice of 209.212.96.1 or 209.212.97.1 both presumably internal IPs to my ISP.Does that help you help me further please? Many thanks
ciaobaby
Ok, operated by MTNNS located in South Africa on AS16637 and fairly slow when running lookups against them. I'd suggest changing your DNS servers to use Googles public nameservers at 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 or the Open DNS servers at 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220You can set the DNS servers that uTorrent uses in Preferences -> Advanced -> isp.primary_dns & isp.secondary_dns
