meandme
hi,I upgraded to 3.2.2, and suddenly nothing will upload or download. No seeds or peers show, either.I'm using Windows 7. Have Avira AntiVirus. I disconnected my modem, waited 30 seconds, plugged it back in, restarted my computer...but it didn't help.Would anyone know how to fix it?For now, I went back a day to my older utorrent, and it's working just fine (well, at slow speeds, which is why i thought i'd upgrade in case that's the problem. but at least it actually downloads.) meandme
Sorry for long delay; i gave up for a while because it's too hard. But I'm trying to figure it out again.I did the Setup guide test in uTorrent. It says my bandwidth is fine but my network port isn't open, though supposedly I can still download. Nothing at all downloads and it just says "searching for peers" net to the torrent. The setup guide said something about portforwarding, so i went to teh links.I can't find my modem/router in the lists. Mine is Phicomm wireless adsl 2/2I tried to use the evaluation pcconfig, but it doesn't recognize my router brand either, and though i bypassed that it hasn't helped (and i don't want to buy the software unless i know for sure it will fix the problem.)would so appreciate help. meandme
and it says seeds/peers are 0, but that isn't true. i can download (slowly) using a very old version of uTorrent.
ciaobaby
Most routers have a HTTP configuration server.Open HTTP://nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn in a browser, where nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn is the internal IP of the router, and find the port forwarding setup, it may be called "Application and Game" setting. Beasly
This site will give you a better idea for the settings for the phicomm router...Check the Nat section for port forward settings.Default IP address: 192.168.0.1Default login user: adminDefault login password: admin http://www.phicomm.com/assets/emulator/FWR-714U/
meandme
Thank you.Is there any other address i can type into the url box to get to my router? 192.168.0.1 didn't bring up my router...?
meandme
oh, wait! I got the router. i just had to use a 1 instead of 0. Now just trying to find the right settings. It's different than the example. I went to NAT, but can't find port forwarding in it.... it has a routing table list...is that the same?
meandme
Or, under NAT, it has DMZ and Virtual Server. I don't understand any of them...
ciaobaby
NAT -> Port Forwarding -> Enabled -> add a rule.Name == uTorrentServer IP == the IP of your machineServer Port range == Your client listen port as both start and end numbersClient port range the sameTCP & UDP selected [ Save ]
meandme
Thanks. I know i'm looking for port forwarding under NAT--it's just that it doesn't list it. Under NAT the only things that are there are:Virtual Circuit: PVC0 (with a drop down box)NAT Status: Enableand then, two links:DMZVirtual Server

meandme
I don't like the sound of this:Note: For security reasons, you should avoid using the default DMZ server feature. When a computer is designated as the default DMZ server, it loses much of the protection of the firewall, and is exposed to many exploits from the Internet. If compromised, the computer can be used to attack your network. Also it says: You should assign a static IP address to the destination computer before you use this feature.I don't know how to do that. I wish this was easier.
ciaobaby
Then don't specify your machine to be in the DMZ, that is an ENTIRELY different thing to port forwarding. You can either set a fixed IP in the TCP/IP properties of your network card (http://portforward.com/networking/static-win7.htm ) or in the DHCP section of your router.
