Error: The system cannot find the path specified

I have an external drive hooked up to my PC via USB ...and I save all my songs movies etc on it.

When using Utorrent, I try to download a file..about 3-5% into the download I get an "write to disk error" -cannot find the path specified.

What is going wrong? Is there no way You can Save torrents to an external HD?

I've even tried saving torrents on C:/downloads and that still does not work.

The file names are very short eg: Robocop, The Terminator...so I am not anywhere near the 255 character limit.

btw: My External HD is "L" drive, not sure if this makes a difference or not? I heard I May have to re label as Utorrent does not recognize certain letters for HD's.

I've also tried Re-installing Utorrent and that does not help.

It is not just the filename but the entire path from drive letter onwards.

It doesn't.

Have you tried with a single character for the path? eg: c:\u\

Is the path terminated with a trailing slash?

Has the download directory been set with the "Everyone" group given 'Full Access'

Have you read any of the several threads where these problems have already been solved?
