ICleolion Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 Currently i believe the program is only doing a tracker scrape while rechecking a torrent. I propose that it should try to connect to the tracker and gather peers ready for when the recheck is complete and the torrent is ready to download/seed again. Same for torrents that are queued in the recheck process (but only those that are going to start downloading or seeding straight after recheck is complete, utorrent should be able to differentiate between those and torrents that will just go into the queue again after rechecking).Reasons for this is because bigger torrents/slower pcs mean it can take an age for a recheck to complete. And that is time wasted for gathering peers ready. On trackers that are hard to connect to it is also a waste of time, especially as the tracker could have been connectable during the 10minutes it took to recheck, and then its down for say 20minutes after recheck is finished! Thats a potential 30minutes lost.If its possible also utorrent should start connecting to peers straight away, and if ludde cant stop utorrent from sending/recieving requests till the torrent has finished completely rechecking, then how about making it so utorrent will only accept requests for pieces it has already rechecked successfully, and only request pieces it has currently found to be missing (this is doable as it rechecks in order). If neither of these things are possible, then utorrent should only just try to connect to tracker. Its better than nothing.
Nefarious Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 i believe that as welltotally unnecessary-1
Ultima Posted April 27, 2006 Report Posted April 27, 2006 The time lost isn't going to make a difference, as µTorrent's going to be checking the file. Meaning transfers won't happen. And if transfers don't happen, then no one's going to want to make a connection with you, or at the very least, you're going to be low on their priority of peers to transfer pieces with.
ICleolion Posted April 28, 2006 Author Report Posted April 28, 2006 Ultima: it seems u didnt understand the request i made.Firon & Nefarious: I agree 95% of the time this change wont make much difference. But there are occasions where this change would be useful. I described one of them in my post.
Ultima Posted April 29, 2006 Report Posted April 29, 2006 lol guess not... Reread now, and I see what you mean... =P
ICleolion Posted April 30, 2006 Author Report Posted April 30, 2006 Thanks, but the powers at be dont want this to happen I cant blame them as although in theory it sounds good (to me), it probably isnt worth the effort for the occasional benefit it will provide (if it was even possible in first place). But still stand by it as not being a useless request
