utorrent beta for Android, "failed adding torrent..." error

Hi guys, hope you can help. Today I downloaded utorrent beta thru the Google play store for my HTC EVO Shift 4g (Sprint is provider) running Android 2.3.4 gingerbread (unfortuntly its the latest version this phone has available). I also downloaded Mobo player thinking I might need that since the stock player doesn't support all vid file types unlike Mobo. However as of yet I've been unable to download anything with this set up. Here's what happens..ill search thru the utorrent program for say a tv episode....that opens a Google page with search results. I'll select a torrent site then a file to download. When I click download I'm given the options to download or play online. If I select download I get an error msg saying "the content is not supported on the phone. No application can be found to open the file. Do you still wish to download it". I can of course select cancel and nothing happens...or click download to continue anyway....if I do the download very quickly fails......the other option is to click "play online". If I do that it starts to look promising as it returns me to the utorroent program with a pop up window that says "add torrent, save to '/mnt/sdcard/download'" and again I can click add or cancel. Cancel of course does that... But if I click "add" I instantly receive an error message saying "failed adding ....whatever the torrent file name is....torrent to your download list". I've tried numerous torrent sites and numerous files from each site but always get the exact same results I mentioned above. Yes, I have an external SD card in the phone with plenty of available storage. Is my OS version too old to support this program or type of download....or well....any ideas on if I can fix this and if so how? I appologize for the lenghty and probably overly detailed post but I didn't want to leave out any info you fine folks might need to help diagnose the problem. Oh....and I'm a 34 year old man, a sagitarius, and I enjoy long walks on the beach, the musical works of Bach and hardcore pornography. In case that helps diagnose.

I am using Android 2.3.6 and μTorrent app version 1.15.22 (build 28745). It works good for me, so don't think it's a specific issue with Gingerbread.

I normally use the magnet links available in torrent websites instead of actually downloading the '.torrent' file itself. When I click on the magnet link it gives me an option to choose between μTorrent and μTorrent Remote (yes, I have that installed as well) to open it. I choose μTorrent and it asks me for the directory to download the file to, which defaults to '/mnt/sdcard/download'. When I select the option to go ahead, it adds the torrent to my download list and starts downloading it.

Try uninstall and reinstall the app if magnet link does not work for you.

Ironically the Nexus 10 tablet with Android 4.2.2 has similar issues. It does not have an external card but it enumerates artifically (or something like that) one.

:/

Mr. Fawkes, I get similar options minus the actual downloading part. "unable to add (torrentfile) to download" or something of the sort.
