Can not seed to DHT peers

ath

Recommended Posts

I'm using uTorrent 3.2.3 (build 28705) 32-bit.

I have forwarded the correct port and got the green "Network OK" checkmark and I can seed most torrents, and I'm connected to DHT.

But I have a few torrents I'm trying to seed that is not uploading even though there are only 1 or 2 other seeds besides me, and I noticed on the "Trackers" tab, that all the peers are found by DHT.

I checked the other torrents that are uploading, and I never connect to more seeds than the number found by non-DHT means, so I suspect I'm not seeding by DHT at all, though I don't know how to check this. I read through the options including the advanced options and did not find any option that should cause this.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If the connected peers came from DHT then you must be able to connect, anything else is conjecture and coincidence.

DHT is basically a tracker NOT a download/upload location

But I have a few torrents I'm trying to seed that is not uploading
and that matters because?

You can't make peers upload if the pieces are available from other seeds/peers.

It is me that is trying to seed/upload. It just annoys me when I see a torrent with 1-2 seeds besides me and maybe 10+ peers trying to get it, and I'm never uploading anything. Something must be broken or setup wrong cause my other torrents I can seed, but these 2 never uploads anything.

I could swear I made a suggestion in this this thread earlier.. recollection enhanced by the fact that I'm subscribed to it. Very strange.

In the event my suggestion was censored (??) I won't make it again. Hut I have a thought elaborating on DreadWingKnight's comment... from my perspective.. this is not DHT specific, but Seeds is of course not synonymous with "uploaders" just as "Peers" (sometimes referred to as "Leechers") is not synonymous with downloaders. Seeds includes all clients that have all parts to the torrent, peers are the clients that don't have all parts. Those peers may not be actively downloading, and may never download -- as is the case if it is a multi-file torrent and those peers selected only some files for download. Even when their client says "seeding", they will appear to other clients as peers, since they don't have everything.
