I would call this a bug

Set up: I was using a different client for torrents, but had to change (forced) by site since it was not "tracking" activity for that client, called it banned. This torrent client (uTorrent) was "blessed". They had a link to it, so I downloaded the file from the link.

Then, I had to seed already downloaded files as they haddn't tracked what had already been done by other client. So I added torrents completed, but in order to not re-download what had already been done the torrent file had to be in the same folder as the folder containing the completed download so it could check and not re-do what was done.

But, after verifying that the file was downloaded successfully, the downloaded folder with files disappeared. [torrent file A, folder A containing movie A and any other files A were BOTH in a folder called Torrents - ONLY torrent file A remained]

I asked a question, but was given a less than adequate answer.

None of the torrents I had to use to seed properly or get credits for being available (to seed) were left. All had been successfully downloaded previously. Now ALL were missing. The ONLY thing I had left were the torrent files!

-- So, if this is NOT a bug will someone who knows please tell me where I can find these downloaded files?

As I am downloading another which I did not have a folder with files in it this is working as it should - new folder with downloading files is there. In the same folder as the torrent file. Where things were pointed to initially.

So your "answer" really isn't.

Those older files disappeared, and they are no where to be found.

As soon as the program verified the torrents, showed they had been completed, except for one, the original completed folders disappeared.

.... isn't .. what???

And, what exactly does this mean

but in order to not re-download what had already been done the torrent file had to be in the same folder as the folder containing the completed download so it could check and not re-do what was done.

It sounds like you put the .torrent file IN with the files from the torrent, THEN loaded and re-checked the job.

Wasn't an answer, because it provided no answer.

And no, the torrent files were in the same wrapper folder as the folders with downloaded files, separate items.

Wrapper Folder > Torrent & Downloaded Torrent Files, but Torrent was not inside Downloaded Torrent Files.

Or as in list view:

Wrapper Folder

Torrent File

Downloaded Torrent Files

Files...

---

The problem was, as I found from a physical search since trying to "Find" them did not work...

ALL the files were put inside a folder called uTorrent. Not a biggie you might say.

Only problem is that that folder was inside Application Support in side the user Library. Something not seen anymore but can be accessed if you know the way.

Not very intuitive, since searching for the files showed only the "visible" ones, not inside the ~/Library.

And there was no reference to this storage place, and it didn't show as a default selection in uTorrent Preferences.

1. Here is a useful item that will run circles around the the OS "Find" on many ways. http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/

There is a list of other alternatives at the bottom of the page, if FAF doesn't float your boat.

2. uTorrent Mac 1.8.2 is current. Slooooowly look at and think about the preferences under the directory tab.

3. If you change clients again, I'll suggest that you backup your data files first --- as insurance against the learning curve and your own impatience to get it done.

4. ciaobaby is all over this board, being competently helpful. However he does have a major flaw (he can't mind-read). Understanding that you don't remember every little (and probably important) step of getting from there to here leads to comms frustrations. Please don't beat up the guy that's trying to help.
