waynejkruse10 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 The computer I am running utorrent on is connected via ethernet to a D-Link wireless router with a 4 port switch. My ADSL modem is then connected to that same switch therefore giving internet to all wireless and wired users of my network. On the ADSL modem (Speedtouch 530) I have forwarded 192.168.0.167:19446 to 0.0.0.0:19446 on TCP and UDP as it says on www.portforward.com. My utorrent incoming port is also set to port 19446. My computer has been locked to the IP 192.168.0.167 manually. However it does not pass the port test (it says: Port 19446 does not appear to be open.) and there is a yellow signal saying: No Incoming Connections at the bottom of the utorrent screen. Thanks in advanceWayne
waynejkruse10 Posted May 1, 2006 Author Report Posted May 1, 2006 None running at the moment. The windows one is turned off as well.
Ultima Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Disabling doesn't work. You have to uninstall it for its influence to disappear.
waynejkruse10 Posted May 1, 2006 Author Report Posted May 1, 2006 yes, if i connect my computer directly to the ethernet port on the modem it works, and everything turns green, but i cant run my network this way.if you want to know, the wireless router is a dlink di-524
Ultima Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Eh D-Links aren't that great, but the problem here is that dual-forwarding can be a pain. I personally don't know how to do it =P

I personally don't know how to do it =PIts the only one I had money for and for wireless its done a great job. This is its only problem. I dont exactly have enough money to go and buy another router (I bought this one two days ago) so i guess I am stuck with it.
Firon Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Because you have two routers, one of them needs to stop working as a router. Set the Speedtouch into Gateway or Bridge mode, then forward ports normally on the D-Link.
waynejkruse10 Posted May 1, 2006 Author Report Posted May 1, 2006 im not exactly sure how to do that, but would it work if i forwarded the speedtouch from the dlink to the internet?
Firon Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Check the Speedtouch's advanced options and stuff, look for gateway or bridge mode somewhere.
kewldude607 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 im not exactly sure how to do that, but would it work if i forwarded the speedtouch from the dlink to the internet?Yes. Also if you set the DMZ to the D-link.
Sugar Pill Posted May 4, 2006 Report Posted May 4, 2006 I have the same d-link router. Not running through the WiFi connection though. I haven't portforwarded, cause I'm a little lost, and I still don't have access to the router yet, my brother knows the password, cause he administrates it. I think I run on UPnP, but the past few months my status light has been yellow, but I could download fine, speeds depended on torrents/trackers. I've always had the message where it couldn't port map my UPnP or something, but I was always still able to download.Right now, the status light is red, and I'm still downloading like usually. I did do a few UPnP configuring recently, to my surprise my UPnP wasn't enabled on the computer through windows, and alot of stuff was set to manual. So I had a few changed with the help of a UPnP tester, and help page. I still failed 2 parts of that testI'm a little confused now as to what's going on, on some occassions, I can't connect to more than like 1-5 seeders, and I can barely upload to others.I have windows firewall turned off, but I have Norton's 2005 bundle.. which I've been advised to uninstall alot lately if I ever wanted to use UPnP, but I'm afraid for my computer's security. I was also wondering if anyone knows how to allow rules for ports TCP/UPD 1900, and 2###.. I forgot the numbers, but windows was set up to allow it, but I couldn't really find any rules for it in my Norton's Firewall. Could anybody assist me on that? Also.. Do I need to portforward all my computers or can I just do 1, cause the other computers don't use uTorrent. Would that mean I'd need a static IP to portforward as well? By the way, I use Shaw extreme cable service.Another thing, most of my torrents work, and I've been downloading off the same tracker for a while now too, but for some reason I can see the swarm of seeders/leechers, they're all about 5k+ for this 1 torrent, and it isn't connecting. It's like... Seeders: 0 (5438) Peers: 0 (8108)Another torrent from the same tracker, that usually has DHT disabled downloads most likely all the time, but connects to only like 1-5 seeders. For example.. it would say something like this: Seeders: 3 (14802) Peers: 1 (8993) ... What the hell? D: The download speed on that torrent right now is like 66kB/s+, and higher. All this, and my DHT is disabled, my status light is Red... So I can't really target most of my problems.
FatherVivianOblivion Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 OT: What do you recommend for security if Norton is worthless?
silverfire Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 Buy a router. The protection afforded by a hardware firewall is several magnitudes better than the false sense of security that a software firewall gives.
FatherVivianOblivion Posted May 5, 2006 Report Posted May 5, 2006 so, having DSL, I have the router that they give (westall 2200), I can just use that for firewall alone? Thanks, and sorry to divert the original question.
