udp & Dht stop working around one I hour need a fix

I am using a socks5 proxy and after a hour or so all the udp trackers get connection timeout and dht stops working on all current and future torrents until I reset the client. The http trackers still works as normal here is what my logfile says

Disconnect: Disconnect: Proxy connect error: offline (timed out)

I talked too tech support at my proxy he said that utorrent doesn't handle the udp protocol very well and told me to use a older opensource client. I don't know if i can talk about other clients in here so I won't name it but it doesn't have multitracker support. I really would like a fix for this problem I really do like utorrent.

He's wrong, it's the proxy that isn't working right.
