µTorrent 3.3.1 RC

5-6 minutes after any torrent d/l completes a hidden (magnet) 5 GB file (bigbad.txt) begins to force d/load to the uTorrent share folder. Repeated 3 times since 29678 update. I've stopped and deleted at 3% each time. Anyone else seeing this or have an Idea what it is?

Some time ago you could select to enable a test feature before you install the program, it was called Distributed Share and there is an option for it:

distributed_share.enable

Just in case I've disabled it and so far no more strange big files with the hidden label.

Thanks for the suggestion. A fairly nebulous description in the Help file:

distributed_share.enable: This option enables the participation in distributed backups 3.3

It hasn't recurred since yesterday but I'll disable it for good measure. It sounds useless.

Uhm... Lately it's working pretty well, as it seems. What changes have been currently made to installer? Because I'd like to install utorrent on another disk, not my primary C.

Also, once I saw over 2500 DHT nodes in a relatively small period of time... Was that some kind of error?

I like how you have multiple detail windows open in uTorrent. Can you let me know how you accomplished this? It really comes in handy.

BTW, how did you get build 29678? It wasn't even posted. Today, I was able to upgrade to beta build 29689 via the automatic update feature. Why don't they just release the next beta so everyone can obtain it? I like to keep the installation file on my storage partition, in the downloads/uTorrent/ file, just in case I need to go back to a working beta build in the future/.

Thank You.

Great. Any special configuration that you set?

Just copy the exe to where you want it to be with, with your settings.dat (or an empty one).

Use Photoshop... lol... But yeah, it is useful :)

29594 is STILL the latest build there.

It is, yes.

But when a new beta is mentioned in this thread, I always use the link in post #1/page 1:

http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/complete/os/win/track/beta

Bookmark the page ;) (one click to get there and the download pop up starts automatically).

That always gets you the latest/current beta, especially if http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/ hasn't been updated for some reason.

I would think that it would take you some time and effort to use Photoshop. I myself wouldn't go through all that trouble. I would just upload screen shots. I don't have time to mess around with Photoshop.

Seriously now, can you get uTorrent to display multiple detail windows within uTorrent?

Thank You.

Did you use Photoshop for your screen capture, or were you able to get several detail screens in one uTorrent? If so, could you enlighten me how you were able to do this?

Thank You.

He told you how he did it. 90 seconds tops to do once Photoshop is launched

~90 seconds to reduce clutter (PSP 3.12). It could be a useful GUI option, but better devs concentrate on code which seems improved in the past 2-3 weeks. Or am I delusional?

Still same install issue with 3.3.1 (build 29689)

what exactly is the issue?

It asks me to install to %AppData% when I have it portable (settings.dat and utorrent.exe in same folder).

I get the regular setup guide, not the auto update that just replaces the .exe and then starts the new one.

I replace the exe 10 times a week.... Why doesn't it happen to me?...

Try rename/delete "updates.dat" and the updates directory... Possibly in both local and appdata paths...

I can try (use the older one, then let it update itself).

There's nothing in %AppData%\uTorrent, I don't use it. And I want to keep it that way. :P

It's when it finds a new version it want to run the setup guide. Before it just replaced the .exe, like it should.

I know how to replace it manually, but would be smoother if it did it by itself. :D

Edit: Recorded a video.
