I can't seed!!-and that's bad!!-1.9 problems..

I have posted twice before and no one answers..I am not a geek-so maybe it's in my description of the problem..so I'll try again..I upgraded to 1.9 and after that I have had problems..one is minutes after the download is completed a red exclamation point appears-and it looks like the download has vanished-but I can still find it by getting into finder-so the file is there-but my ability to seed vanishes..and now for every download there also appears an empty twin file (represented by a white page turning) that is more or less useless-with the name .import..as I said I am new at this and could really appreciate some help-especially with the red exclamation point cutting off my ability to seed...thanks
