Need help understanding what this error means!

I left a torrent downloading over night and when I woke up the torrent had a red exclamation mark and an error that said "Error: Hash cannot allocate memory". This is the first time I have seen this error. I have plenty of hard drive space, and I am one of the people who reported/experiences utorrent eating up all my free memory and turning it into inactive memory.

Could someone who knows what this error means explain it to me and why it happened.
