ciaobaby
First guess is ISP blocking P2P traffic.second guess is a firewall blocking uTorrent traffic.
louette
Nope is not blocking .. as I said it has been working fine until is was notWindows fire wall, I re installed utorrent and let it create firewall exeption

JavierKekanitit
My torrents get stuck on "connecting to peers" exactly like louetteThe problem started yesterday out of the blue after about 1 year of using utorrent without any problems. My d/l and u/p speed are also set to unlimitedI too am using utorrent 3.3 with Windows 7My ISP, 'telus', also doesn't block P2P traffic. I've used it for 2 years without affecting utorrent.I too re installed utorrent with the firewall exceptionI too have checked the forums for help to no avail - except to find out that some people revert to an earlier iteration of utorrent to solve a host of other problems. I am concerned that the earlier versions were superseded for some technical or security reason and not just for the sake of novelty. So using them might expose me to a worse scenario than I am now facing - things like viruses, lawsuits from MPAA ect... Is there anything I can do before I resort to that solution? DreadWingKnight
That still doesn't give us any error messages from the trackers tab or any useful information like what internet security software you have installed.
JavierKekanitit
Perhaps an actual example might make things easier. My internet security is avast! Free Antivirus. This is what the trackers tab looks like when I am trying to download this torrent:<don't link content>Name Status Update in Seeds Peers Downloaded[DHT] announcing... 0 1 0[Local Peer Discovery] working 0 1 0[Peer exchange] working 0 0 0upd://tracker.ccc,de:80 connection timed out 14m 10s 0 0 0upd://tracker.istole.it:80/announce connection timed out xm xs 0 0 0upd://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80 connection timed out xm xs 0 0 0upd://tracker.publicbt.com:80 connection timed out xm xs 0 0 0The number of minutes and seconds in the "Update in" column are constantly ticking down then resetting themselves to 30 or 40 minutes, so I wrote x as their value. I will keep this torrent as is, in "connecting to peers" status in case you want me to try some tweaks.
JavierKekanitit
Sorry, error transcribing tracker info - I marked the corrected figures with an asterisk *Name Status Update in Seeds Peers Downloaded[DHT] announcing... 0 0* 0[Local Peer Discovery] working 0 1* 0[Peer exchange] working 0 1* 0upd://tracker.ccc,de:80 connection timed out 14m 10s 0 0 0upd://tracker.istole.it:80/announce connection timed out xm xs 0 0 0upd://tracker.openbittorrent.com:80 connection timed out xm xs 0 0 0upd://tracker.publicbt.com:80 connection timed out xm xs 0 0

JavierKekanitit
For those people reading this and trying to fix a similar problem:The laconic Mr. DreadWingKnight has identified the problem: "Ok, so yeah, blocked."The solution for telus ISP users (perhaps others as well) is to go to: Preferences > Connection and then check the box next to Randomize port each start. This will prevent them from getting a fix on your port and blocking it. I have just finished downloading the torrent mentioned above in 18 minutes after applying this fix. Vince.VIP
I have exactly the same problem, I was downloading perfectly fine for about a month, and then it suddenly stopped working. i have noticed that occasionally it does start working for a very short period and then stops again. my guess is that a popular application that alot of people have started messing with it after an update or something like that. liveaboard
I also had this problem; suddenly I was unable to connect to peers. It might have started when I reloaded Utorrent with the latest build [3.3].After reading this thread, I tried changing the port number. That partially worked so I figured I was on the right track. In my router configuration, I discovered that Upnp port mapping wasn't enabled; I think I set it that way long ago, and set a fixed port number to get through a firewall or two.Anyway, after resetting Upnp to "enabled", all is now well.Best of luck, everyone

jsillup
Ok, but I use BTGuard, if I turn this on, pretty sure my VPN becomes useless. Am I mistaken? You are not mistaken. When using a VPN your listening port has to be forwarded at the VPN server, not your router.
