uTorrent not finding partial or completed files

My first BIG problem with uTorrent: Running on Windows XP, just upgraded to uTorrent v3.3, uTorrent not recognizing any of the files in the incomplete directory or complete directory. Re-installed earlier 3.2 version, still the same. I downloaded a new torrent file and it added it to the incomplete directory and uTorrent is downloading it, but not showing the existing files. Here are screenshots of the directory preferences in uTorrent, and the directories themselves. I don't want to fool around and screw up more. Thanks for any and all help!

reset the location of the jobs and point uTorrent to the parent folder, then run a recheck before starting the job

With a little experimenting I found a way to recover. I went into both directories, double-clicked on each Torrent file, and uTorrent appropriately added each one to the partial download or downloaded list, recognizing the already present data file(s). Laborious, but at least it worked. I'd still like to know how this FUBAR happened in the first place.

Probably the joblist configuration file (resume.dat) got damaged, deleted or corrupted in some way so uTorrent created new blank one.
