A torrent is only uploading as long as it is active in a client.

Once you close/stop/remove the torrent, you are no longer uploading it.

BitTorrent isn't a traditional p2p network.

And to further clarify, when you're seeding, you are only uploading the exact SAME material as you were downloading earlier, no sneaking about on your harddrive. (I'm writing this, becuase I once suspected that Bittorrent was some kind of spyware ... LMAO)

to clarify still further, you are uploading already during the downloading

that is, you are uploading parts of that which you have already downloaded but its not called seeding untill you have downloaded it all and keep the torrent going

basically you can't download if you don't want to upload but as the guy said, tis nowt to fear about, all that you upload is just what you downloaded as long as its torrent is active

And if you only download and don't seed afterwards then you're not a decent member of the bittorrent network. If everyone did this then there would be nothing to download and the system would die.
