qholway
hello everyone,i have a netgear router which i recently upgraded the firmware for (though i've now gone back to the old firmware as the update made it think it was a 54mbps rather than a 108 mbps). since then i've been having problems with my utorrent.basically it's not connecting to any seeds, though it says there are about 2000 in the swarm.i've done the portforward check in options, preferences and it says my port 45678, the one i've set up on the router for utorrent, is not open. however the router says it is. and actually, as i'm writing this, the download speed has shot up to 245, which is great and makes me think this is kind of a moot post - but still it says that port isn't open. how can this be when i know it is, or at least i've opened it like i've opened others and they've worked, and the speed would suggest it is too?i'm perplexed. any wisdom on this subject would be greatly appreciated.cheers. DreadWingKnight
Connecting to seeds isn't required for download completion. To check your port, look at the light in the status bar (bottom of the window)If green, port = open.
qholway
thanks for the reply. when you say the light in the bottom of the window.. i'm confused here cos i don't have one, green or any other colour. can you suggest a reason why it's now taking a good 20 minutes to start downloading at all? used to start pretty much straight away. once it gets going it's like lightning, to use a popular metaphor, so no worries there. Ultima
Are you using µTorrent v1.5 or higher? There should be a little "light" on µTorrent's statusbar...
