Birdymain
What does port forwarding utorrent do?My brother was trying to sneak around and set it up. What's to purpose of doing this? Does it priorities the bandwidth for it?I have no issues with his downloading other than he downloads way too much with no restraint. .I'm guessing it helps speed up the downloading for utorrent. But I just want to make sure before I change the password to the router.

Birdymain
I'm sorry, routing is not my strong suit when it comes to computers. What did you mean by messages then? Everything I've read about it is setting up a server for online games. I didn't think it was the same for utorrent.

Birdymain
Okay, I'm learning all kinds of things tonight. He only downloads off a private server and there's no block between here and there. What use is forward porting then?
DreadWingKnight
He only downloads off a private server and there's no block between here and there. Except the tracker has no bearing on any of this discussion. And if a direct connection happens between two peers, either the port is forwarded or uTP worked in holepunching its way through.
