D-Nick Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 I currently use uTorrent on my Windows 7 desktop. I want to move my uTorrent client to my Ubuntu server. When I do this, do I necessarily lose the ability to continue seeding the existing completed torrents, or is there a way I can continue to make them available?
Andreasvb Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Doesn't matter which BitTorrent client you use, they all handle .torrent, that's what they're made for. You'll need to tell the client where each completed torrent is located when you add them back.
D-Nick Posted July 31, 2013 Author Report Posted July 31, 2013 Thanks. I'm quite new to torrents, and don't fully understand what that means. By "add them back", do you mean adding their particulars to the new client? Are there clear instructions somewhere on what I'd need to do for that? And, once they are "added back", they will automatically seed again, without me having to leech them afresh? Even though they will have a very different local path from when I first got them?
Andreasvb Posted July 31, 2013 Report Posted July 31, 2013 Just choose the folder they are saved to and it should pick up.I'm not sure how you add torrents to the Linux version. In Windows you just double click on one and it will add. It's a web interface, so I guess you can add from there.
