upload/download byte count lost on connection close/open

During the normal operation of the BT protocol, peers disconnect and reconnect shortly thereafter. When a peer disconnects, its upload/download byte counts are lost. When it reconnects, even a few seconds later, the upload/download counts start from zero. This leads to a distorted picture of who you downloaded and uploaded what amount of data to. I would like to request that the upload/download counts are kept as long as the IP is in the local list of peers. Since a peer is supposed to "age out" after 30 minutes (of I'm not sure what condition), it would not add that much to memory usage and would really let you see who the "good" peers are. I know that BT only uses current transfer rates to pick peers to upload to, but this information is good for the human in front of the screen.
