automatic discovery of ip address

under Options->Report Options there is a field for people who are under a proxy to manually annouce their ip address to the tracker so that they can connect to more people hopefully.

however the field is static. how is it possible to enter a value that changes with the change in my modem's ip address?

Unless you're running a tracker from behind the same router you're seeding from, you don't need to put ANYTHING in there.

You can get a Dyndns account and put your URL there.

And unless you're behind a non-transparent proxy that doesn't send X-Forwarded-For, you don't need it. Most trackers ignore it anyway.

And just in case you DO need it for some reason (and you should know better if you need it or not), use Ultima's advice.

Firon, most trackers do NOT ignore it if the peer IP is a LAN ip, hence allowing to use the tracker that is on the same LAN with the peer.

And the times where the two are on the same subnet are practically zero.

Even then, they often still have to turn on support for it.

So for all intents and purposes, it's almost always ignored.
