Internet speed grinding to halt using Utorrent

I am on Mountain lion using utorrent 1.8.4 build 29971.

Even when I don't saturate my maximum bandwidth, my internet slows to a halt. How can I fix this? This use to not happen when I was on Lion. Now when I download 1 torrent, it slows down the entire internet for the house. I even limit my speeds to 750kbps and set my global connections to 100.

My Vuze doesn't do this and it can download at 5MBps (my max bandwidth) without slowing down my browsing.

Sorry, I have fixed it now, seems to be a router firmware problem.
