Invalid IP Address

I have a mac running OS X 10.6.8. I have followed connection setup guide. I get all the way to router part and put in port and IP and gives me "Invalid IP Address". Anyone have any suggestions beside a link to connection guide?

Update: OK maybe I am just lost cause I can't get static IP working either. And I thought I was a computer guy :D

I start by going to system preferences - network. I change Configure IPv4 to Manual. Change IP to 192.168.1.2 - Subnet is 255.255.255.0 - router is 192.168.1.1 then apply. I didn't normally check at this point but when I do I get no network function.

Then I go to my router. sign in. Go to Firewall and try to setup a virtual server with same IP as static and port # on TVtorrents.com. Then gives error "invalid IP Address"

Whatever help is appreciated. I would love to contribute and be apart of community.

If you're using static IP, be sure to setup the same on the router, mine is named Add DHCP reservation.

I use DMZ so I don't have to specify a port to open. But you only need to enter ports to your computer's IP, never to a URL.

Maybe that's why you get invalid IP, as it's not an IP you enter.
