vanDivX
trackers I take are those websites with listed torrent links and ratios that are kept there for people are ratios only for the uploads and downloads from that tracker site, hope I got that correctquestion is can I lower (that is harm) my ratio somehow if after seeding a torrent I remove its link from uTorrent and or if I delete it including the downloaded files? or is it so that once you've been seeding, it gets registered live on the tracker site and it doesn't matter what you do later on at your end as long as you seeded? you see that I got little idea how all this worksand I understand some torrents are actually from different tracker sites than that on which the link is hosted, who gets the ratio data plus or minus affecting your ratio then also I have some foggy notion that torrent links are tracked by several tracking sites (whatever that means), depending how many you paste into the property window of the torrent (sometimes pple post notes like: 'this tracker sucks, use this one...' which I take means you replace the one in that property window or just add the non-sucking tracker link supplied to whats already there separated by empty line?and I have some foggy notion that DHT (whatever it stands for) has to do something with obviating need for tracker sites for peer to peer connections, bypassing tracker website in effect or only when they go down perhaps? in that case the ratio is skewed since it is not registering with some tracker as it should? now I am totally at sea as I don't quite understand how it all works, never mind ratios (like what happens to them when you add more trackers - those ....announce links to that window in property pannel), where is help for hopeless ones like me?vanDivX
Ultima
Nah your ratio won't decrease by removing the torrent. Assuming the tracker was correctly tracking your torrent, however much you upload and download is all that's tracked (generally), and when you stop, it stops tracking. As for DHT, it doesn't skew anything, much like adding more trackers doesn't.
vanDivX
k, that means I can sleep tonight, from what I read on other threads, it seemed like you could harm your ration adversely by removing or moving files on your computer (and by that I don't mean interrupting seeding process that way)vanDivX
Ultima
If you're referring to that thread asking for a feature to remove completed torrents, the argument was that you'd have no incentive to reseed the torrent if it dies after you remove it, not that it'll kill your ratio ;P
