Haha, your worry is a large installer size, not bundled Conduit spywares?

I'm not worried in the slightest.

I was curious as to why it takes 10-12MB to do the same thing with 1.29MB (i.e. download a torrent).

As I replace binary, no worries regarding installing nasties.

For anyone else:

Block nasty url's via hosts file (during initial install anway).

Or "decline" any offers.

Or simply disconnect from the internet during installation.

That pretty much covers installer nasties ever being downloaded.

To Admin:

I was going to mention this on my previous post - when you posted the link to 3.4.2.32498 on this page...

http://utclient.utorrent.com/offers/beta_release_notes/release_notes.html

...it was pointing to 3.4.2.32484, and still is. You might want to correct it ;)

Link has been fixed now and you're able to download build 32498 for what ever it's worth!

I am having 2 separate issues with build 32498.

1.  When i set a bandwidth limit on my upload of 1kBps using the context menu over the upload speed, my download slow to about 10kBps-14kBps Bursting at most to 50kBps. This despite my download being set to unlimited. As soon as i set the upload rate limit to "unlimited" my downstream returns to max speed.

2.  When using Firefox, and opening a .torrent file with Utorrent, Utorrent is brought into focus, however i am not able to select a location to save.  I instead have to save the .torrent file, then return to utorrent and select File > Add Torrent (choose save dir)

Am I the only person having these issues?

I am running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit.  Utorrent 3.4.2 Beta Build 32498

1. pref->bandwidth->apply limit to overhead = disabled , Leech !!!

2. pref.->UI->show options to change location = enabled

Thanks for the response.

1. This was already set to disabled.  I disabled "Apply rate limit to uTP connections" and that seems to have fixed that issue.

2. "Show options to change location" was already enabled, as well as "Activate program window" .  "Don't start the download automatically" is un selected.

I feel quite sorry that you are more worried about a large installation than about bundled junk *proven* to be harmful.

As I understand, the large installation is due to the libtorrent library, something all these open source apps use. uTorrent being closed source does not use this library but uses proprietary libraries that's why it's small.

There is nothing to fear here about 10-12 MB client using a libtorrent library (and no bundled bs), but there's everything to fear when a 1 MB client uses several deception-based steps to get toolbars, spywares and unwanted junk installed on the unwary user's computer. None of that happens on the alternatives I'm trying out, which has less than 5 steps installation - agree, choose location, choose options and you're done! But you say: "Just click Decline Offer and uncheck checkboxes during install"? Not a real solution.

I used to love uTorrent before they went commercial. With version 3 and above, everything just went downhill. From the original "thin and light client" it was, it has become bloatware and gotten more and more bloated with junk with every new version - and that too, harmful junk! What's worse is people like you supporting this bloat-up by pouring more sugar into the soda instead of speaking out against it.

I'm currently trying out qBittorrent and I'm favoring it over Tixati (didn't work at all) and Deluge (heavy on CPU).

...: "Just click Decline Offer and uncheck checkboxes during install"? Not a real solution.

I can think of a 100 more widely used apps that use  the same "technique" !

Found 3.4.2_32501 beta in my update folder.

Lucky you ... ;)

Unfortunately, that link is (currently) pointing towards 3.4.2.32498.

3.4.2.32537 can be grabbed on the Russian Roulette beta links.

Edit:

Add New Torrent dialog window doesn't show (for me, anyway) when adding Magnet Link.

Reverting back to 3.4.2.32498.
