Open in background, however unable to open.

Hello.

uTorrent worked flawlessly on this computer before a re-install of windows, however this time around on start-up of my computer, uTorrent will become active in the background (and can be seen in the Task Manager - Processes tab) and it will not be accessible. I cannot re-open a new instance, or open it from the startup menu as it is not present there.

Closing it from the processes and then reopening fixes this issue, however it returns upon the next startup (and causes a hash ceck on all files).

This is using uTorrent 1.5, build 437.

I actually switched to 1.5 because of this issue (and a connection issue). Neither was resolved.

I've switched back to the beta, and I am having the same issue. One more thing to note is that when I try to open uTorrent (with another instance un-openable but existing in the Process tab) it does not report back that another instance of uTorrent is running.

Edit: Yes, this problem occurs in both 1.5 and 1.5.1 BETA (460).

M'k. I think that I have found what caused this problem originally, and that this problem is an on-going occurrence of the original problem.

I'll start off with my specs, though...

Before reinstalling windows (uTorrent functions correctly):

Hardware:120 gig harddrive, NVidia graphics card, Int. Pent 4 CPU, 3.40GHz, 512MB Ram

Software:Windows XP, SP2 (all up to date). Startup software: McAfee Security Center

Drivers: NVIDIA V81.98, CY91510A.86A.0039.EB (Bios), INF_XP2K_MCE_XP64_7.2.2.1006 (INF)

After reinstalling windows

Everything is the same, except for the harddrive (Now using a 200gig and the old 120gig as an internal storage drive).

uTorrent worked correctly on this new system at first, however to the best that I can remember, this issue occurred after I formatted the 120gig harddrive (it contained a partitioned windows xp that had uTorrent on it). I think that I may have run uTorrent from the 120gig (drive G) and this caused some registry keys to be entered into drive C: (the 200gig).

So, I had windows on a 120gig and uTorrent worked.

Then, I had widows on a 200gig (no uTorrent)

Then, I had windows on a 200gig and 120gig and possibly ran uTorrent from the 120gig while windows was loaded for the 200gig.

Formated the 120 for storage purposes, leaving the 200gig as-is

And I think this is when uTorrent stops loading correctly, possibly a mis-directed registry key?

Thank you for that essay. It was very helpful.
