simmy
Hello, The new uTorrent version 3.4 has a somewhat redesigned UI and it's now missing the Pause button that was next to the Stop and Start buttons (see attachment). Is that just me, or is it intended? Can it be fixed/changed, maybe by installing some other "skin"? Thanks
Andreasvb
It's intended, but you can still access Pause from each torrent's context menu.

Firon
Nope. It's not important enough to warrant being in the toolbar, so it's been relegated to the context menu. It's a pretty silly feature anyway.
quazy1328
That is like moving your brake pedal in the car to the trunk because you have a parking brake right there.
DreadWingKnight
No, it's not.
mcenn
Time to install an older version then

DreadWingKnight
let's see you put 20 people on hold for 8 hours and see how well things go.
rysport
OK, when that's done, do you mind explaining why a pause button is silly?
DreadWingKnight
Using the pause feature isn't bandwidth management.
uzetaab
So I have this problem where I only have a small upload speed, but my download speed is massive in comparison. Therefore I always have a backlog of uploads. to help manage this I stop torrents until I have watched them, so that older torrents get a chance to reach my seeding goal. In other words I do the following: download>stop>watch>seed>delete The trouble is that it is hard to tell the difference between a file that I stopped and a file that reached it's goal and just today I deleted two torrents I had not watched yet. I dunno why, but I never tried pause before and a paused file is much easier to distinguish from a stopped file. There. Now you have a good reason to include a pause button, how about an answer to the question of why pause is bad with a little less passive aggressiveness and a little more information? is it because other computers will continue to try to connect to my paused torrent or something? Andreasvb
You can use labels to categorize them as well. And pause is still left in the context menu.

It's exactly hat happens when you hit your seeding goal. When you hit pause, it does none of that. It just stops sending requests for pieces, or responding to requests from others. It keeps the connections to the other peers, just doesn't do anything. So you're using up your connections, and other peoples too. And for that, you want a button added back to the bar, when you aren't even using pause right? You do know that if you just leave things alone, the queue management system will try and shift things around to keep torrents seeding, right? In short, you're not only badly micromanaging the queue (which you don't need to do) you're also being what many would consider to be an abusive peer in doing so. Aren't you nice? creamtown
Pause buttion is probably the most important feature on any download-related software. I mean, i don't know if maybe, i need to restart the internet connection of my modem because it's being interupted. Right now, i'm still using the older version of uTorrent for that matter. Andreasvb
I've never even used the feature, I just stop it when I'm done.

The client will reconnect to everything.Any time where you think you need pause, stop is probably what you actually want.

It's a pretty silly feature anyway. You are mistaken. I use too and frequently the PAUSE button and I'm finding difficulties right now in using the context menu (the refered button in the toolbar was much more practical, efficient). I'm completely agree with user Firon.
lordbyro
Using the pause feature isn't bandwidth management. What are you talking about?! Many users took time to write they think an item which ALREADY EXISTING IN THE PREVIOUS VERSION - and was withdrawn - They tell PAUSE BUTTON ON TOOLBAR is useful.I'm sorry, but...why you are so bonehead? Why you don't say simply something like: "We'll resend yours suggestions about it to development area?" and really do it?
