Mentalchaos128
First of all, let me say that I hate to post on this kind of forum. I feel like my question has probably already been answered and that it's a waste of time to post. That said, I've decided to go for it, because this is my last resort.I've had a yellow or red light (usually red) since I downloaded uTorrent. I tried all sorts of port forwarding and secondary programs with my WRT54G router, but I could never get better than yellow (which would usually become red in a few minutes). I finally decided to take drastic measures, and installed dd-wrt. After a call to tech support (yes, I was that deperate) and several hours of fiddling and number swapping, I got my network up and running again. Confident that uTorrent would now work well, I forwarded all my ports properly (at least I'm pretty sure I did) and turned off all router firewalls and security (though I'm not in DMZ... I'm not sure I want to take it that far). But to no avail. Here I sit, downloading between 3 and 12kb, still stuck with a red light.Someone please help. : /
Ares
All I can think of is maybe you have a software firewall...? I assume you have a static IP, and have disabled (or port-forwarded) the Windows Firewall, right? Though I understand the latest uTorrent should automatically do that, but hey, doesn't hurt to check, I suppose. Also, if you plug your machine directly into your cable/dsl modem, does it still stay yellow/red?Ps. that reminds me, sometimes cable/dsl modems have built in firewalls too.-Ares
MoJo
Simple thing is to first check uTorrents preferences, under Network see if the Enable uPnP setting is 'on'. If 'on' turn it 'off', as some Routers have issues with that (atleast mine does). Then set up the portforwarding up again, making sure uTorrent is also using that same port, restart uTorrent, and tell me if that helped.Good luck
Switeck
Your antivirus software (assuming you have any) could have a firewall program in it.Many spyware programs that "listen" to the internet also act as firewalls...blocking anything they don't understand. Mentalchaos128
I disabled uPnP... still at yellow. My software/antivirus firewall has been turned off, as well as windows firewall and the router firewall. I don't have any spyware protection running. I'll have to check on plugging it directly into the modem.Another possibility is my Bellsouth modem. I think Bellsouth might be doing something screwy with my ports, as they all seem to be blocked. Are they a known problem causer? Thanks in advance.
DNA
I have the same problem.. I have tried everything and I still get yellow light..
Ares
All I know is that recently I've seen a lot of the newer cable/dsl modems coming with built-in firewalls. That may be your problem. You can do port-forwarding, but it's not under anything that resembles "port forwarding". Just click around and you might find what I'm talking about. You should recognize the page as a "port-forwarding" page, but I forget what they called it.-Ares
