mafiaprincess
Hey, Love the forum, usually lurk when I have a problem. Can't find my exact issue today though. When I went to bed last night my utorrent was seeding fine. This morning, all active torrents have trackers that say "this client is blocked due to bugs". Tvtorrents has no news saying anything has changed, haven't found anything similar googling. My seeding was 'clean' I'm nowhere techsavvy enough nor do I care to cheat the system.I downloaded the newest utorrent, didn't change anything. I removed torrents out of utorrent and re=added them, before they are even rechecked it says they are blocked. I can download from other sources and seed just fine..Help? Please :/
Elkad
TvT has blocked 3.4.1 due to unspecified bugs. At this time the only solution is to revert to a prior version of uTorrent. C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent\updates has your prior versions of uTorrent stored, run one and it will offer to downgrade. Then go to prefs/general and disable automatic updates. No, I have no idea why TvT did that. Edit: This is now posted on TvT NEWS - 2014-04-10uTorrent 3.4.1 blocked Version 3.4.1 of uTorrent is blocked due to a bug that causes credits to be withdrawn when seeding. The preferred version is 2.2.1 which can be found here: <munched by admin - do NOT link old versions> /staff

mafiaprincess
That was quick and easy. NEver thought about downgrading, I jumped to the upgrading. Much appreciated.
Andreasvb
And no proven evidence that it's a bug?Ignorant admins that don't know about BitTorrent, most likely.
bitplayer
I fell back to 3.3.2 and that seems ok with tvtorrents
DreadWingKnight
Still doesn't address the so-called bugs they're blocking over.
Marquis de Leon
Nothing much you can do except wait for the bugs to be fixed, or use an old version. Most private trackers still recommend version 2.2.1 anyway.
slaneyrw
TVTorrents have been in the game for a long time and they are usually right on the money for issues. Has anyone from TVTorrents been in contact as to the symptoms ?

Has anyone from TVTorrents been in contact as to the symptoms ?No one from TVTorrents or ANY other private site has been in contact to report ANY of their so-called bugs in about 3 years. They just blanket ban with that message and don't actually attempt to report or troubleshoot. fuzzywuzzzy
On thing that would help is using a different identification string for the beta and the stable build.... No one from TVTorrents or ANY other private site has been in contact to report ANY of their so-called bugs in about 3 years. They just blanket ban with that message and don't actually attempt to report or troubleshoot. So they are far from "right on the money for issues" This is simply untrue. I have read threads where tracker staff try to engage with you guys on these very forums.

Hossy
From TVT support: "There's a suspected bug in version 3.4.1 which caused quite a few people to loose alot of credits. Version 2.2.1 is the preferred version to use. Public sites don't do accounting, so it wouldn't affect them.Good luck"

slaneyrw
Does this means anything ? ... "In a nutshell, if you start a torrent that you had not yet hash checked and the bittorrent client announces once that you have {filesize} bytes remaining and then announces after the hash check is complete that you have 0 bytes remaining, the tracker will think you downloaded all of it just then. We've tried to report issues to the uTorrent developers in the past but they deny a problem exists and blame it on the tracker. We'll just wait for the next release and see if the problem is fixed. Then they don't have to worry about admitting to a problem, taking any blame or giving any credit." DreadWingKnight
And where exactly did they report this so-called bug? I've never seen the report until now.
Hossy
So, I had replied to TVT support asking them what the bug was or if there was a bug report. I won't post their response, but suffice to say there appears to be much anamosity between the two communities. In the interest of moving things in the right direction, can we instead focus on identifying and resolving the issue and less on finger-pointing? It may or may not have been reported on a bug tracker or forum, but slaneyrw's post above generally explains the bug and gives a potential way to reproduce the issue. As it turns out, TVT posted a news blurb about the blocking on their home page. uTorrent 3.4.1 blocked Version 3.4.1 of uTorrent is blocked due to a bug that causes credits to be withdrawn when seeding. The preferred version is 2.2.1 which can be found here: <next time, edit this link out, it's not allowed here> If you still want to use uTorrent 3.x, you may have an earlier version in "%APPDATA%\uTorrent\updates". Paste that into the address in explorer (no quotes) then click the version you want to revert to. You probably want to turn off automatic updates, too. In a nutshell, if you start a torrent that you had not yet hash checked and the bittorrent client announces once that you have {filesize} bytes remaining and then announces after the hash check is complete that you have 0 bytes remaining, the tracker will think you downloaded all of it just then. We've tried to report issues to the uTorrent developers in the past but they deny a problem exists and blame it on the tracker. We'll just wait for the next release and see if the problem is fixed. Then they don't have to worry about admitting to a problem, taking any blame or giving any credit. //staff DreadWingKnight: Is there anything else you guys need to begin an investigation of this issue? I personally have not experienced the problem, but then again, I don't start my torrents until the hash check is complete, so I might've never been in the position. DreadWingKnight
wireshark logs showing the announces that prove the bug is there would be useful.
Hossy
wireshark logs showing the announces that prove the bug is there would be useful. I have requested that TVT place this topic link on their home page with the news item, so hopefully someone experiencing the issue can provide the information you are requesting (if you are unable to reproduce it yourself).
