Corpusstalker Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 hi i am having a bit of trouble with utorrent when i first installed it i port forwarded it and the DHT was green now for no reason at all it has changed to yellow, i reset the port again but the light stays yellow are there any other settings that i am missing for this to happen, any help would be much appreicatedat the start my download speeds were good but since this has happened i only get about 30kb/sit used to be well over 100kb/si think im going to chamge to azureus if this sh*te dont start working properlyits gone read now for no reason wtf still able to download though but only 5kb/s
DreadWingKnight Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 The light isn't for DHT status, it's for overall reachability status. If you are behind a router, you will most likely need to configure it for port forwarding (See http://portforward.com)
Corpusstalker Posted May 24, 2006 Author Report Posted May 24, 2006 i am behind a router which is firewalled i have port forwarded it i have just downloaded azureus to see if that has the same problem but that is working fine...when i check the port it relays an error saying it is not forwarded but azureus has no trouble with the port?could peer guardian be affecting it?
DreadWingKnight Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 It could bePort forwarding without setting up a proper static IP address can cause port forwards to break.Double-checking the IP address that is being forwarded to, and comparing it to your computer's current IP address.
Corpusstalker Posted May 24, 2006 Author Report Posted May 24, 2006 thank you very much for your help finally got the green light and port forwarding done properly now but new problem now uploading no bother but this is what dht saysDHT: waiting to log inthen DHT:0 nodes (login)is there any reason for this or does it just takes ages to get going?
DreadWingKnight Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 DHT requires UDP forwarding/opening in routers/firewalls in order to function.
Corpusstalker Posted May 24, 2006 Author Report Posted May 24, 2006 all that is done it says network okyour network connection is working like it should be
DreadWingKnight Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 DHT doesn't get tested with that port checker, only peer communications.
DreadWingKnight Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Run through the usual program suspects.Check to make sure uT is listening for DHT traffic using a program such as TCPView.Try torrents with alternate DHT bootstrapping information (such as those from http://opensource.depthstrike.com)
Corpusstalker Posted May 24, 2006 Author Report Posted May 24, 2006 fixed problem once and for all got rid of all to powerful router firewall that couldnt be configured properly"no fault of mine" i would say just sh*te router...ended up buying zone alarm pro but phuck it atleast i can download using that.... thanks for help DreadWingKnight...game on!!!!!!
DreadWingKnight Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Wait a second.SPI firewalls in routers are known to cause problems.Did you try disabling the SPI firewall in the router?
Corpusstalker Posted May 24, 2006 Author Report Posted May 24, 2006 elaborate what an spi? i turned off all firewall settings in router zone alarm let it work straight away just with a few accepts
