samir12
Hi, I am using uTorrent 3.4.1 build 30888 on Windows 8.1 I had disk overload problems so I used Rafi's settings.dat file which helped but the problem still remains. The download starts fine, gets constant max speed (7.5 MB/s) , and then after a minute or two, the disk cache starts to slowly increase until the limit is reached (set at 128MB) at which the disk overloads (doesn't overload to 100% but speed is throttled nonetheless). I increase the disk cache limit to 256MB but the cache just keeps on increasing until it hits that limit and overloads. I changed the diskio.sparse_files to true but the same problem occurs. Its weird because it seems at first it fine, the cache is steady, but something happens after a minute or two and then it just gives in. Any suggestions on what I could do? rafi
Sounds familiar... As you can see in the screen below, it works fine here (latest build), intentionally decreased to 32M cache. I am not saying that this is a proof or non-bug, but you'd have to keep in mind that: a. No one will deal with "old" builds... You'd have to go for the newest beta/RCb. Most likely (but <100%... ) there is some slowdown in your HD. Try to check its performance with other disk IO utility http://www.imagebam.com/image/55be33324146252

samir12
I upgraded to the latest build 30971 and the same thing happens. http://www.imagebam.com/image/cfeedd324151612 The image in the link shows the disk speeds and at what point the problem starts to occur, from that point the file writing speed seems to decrease despite being initially stable for just over a minute. So maybe it is a hard drive problem? This only occurs on big multi file torrents, single files are fine.
samir12
Ok, I set diskio.sparse_files to true, the only difference is that its stable for just a minute longer but the problem still occurs. http://www.imagebam.com/image/58518d324154012

samir12
Ok, it seems to be fine now, I've been testing on the same torrent and never thought to try another one or just delete the torrent and files and test again.
rafi
I bet you've never tried my settings file... BTW, I can clearly see in all your screenshots the bug of the to-cache/to-file write counters showing 100% difference... Who knows, maybe the root cause for that has something to do with the issue... esdeexx
Are the newer versions still plagued with this issue? I reverted back to 3.2.3 version a while ago and didn't have this problem ever since.

Ligeorge
My disk overloads too but only with big torrents(μTorrent 3.4.1 31139 stable and 31224 beta). I don't know the lowest size but in my case a 40gb torrent overloads the disc after 2 minutes. A new beta has arrived 3.4.1 31274 . It is possible they fixed it.
