Proxies: Do they work?

Simple question from a kid here about if a proxy works and if I have mine set up correctly. I've been notified by charter in 2 different occasions about my torrenting and my parents don't appreciate it.

This is the what I think I did to fix this problem.

I can say from my usage so far they work it's how you implement it and how you choose your proxy that work or not.

 

Here's what I would do at the "Listening Port" section

uncheck all the boxes and pick a random port above 60,000.

 

Next for Proxy Server.

 

Choose "Socks5" instead and for your "proxy pirvacy" check all those three boxes.

 

Now for Socks5 address you will need to find a site that offers Socks5 proxy that you can input that into the location "Proxy" box like

example:

Type: Socks5  Proxy: 176.xx.0.xxx:1080   Port: 1080

 

This method would first go through the proxy instead of your local ISP. Also if you choose a proxy to use don't use any that says is USA based. Hope this helps more.
