TrevorS Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 I regularly run across apparent good guys and bad guys within the torrent spectrum! I want to support the good guys and as far as practical sink the bad! Why is it these clients provide no mechanism for promoting some other peer over another? There are plenty of irresponsible bastards out there -- is it really the duty of the client to fully insulate the client owner from client function? I'm not requesting an ability to absolutely control, but at least, perhaps, an ability to steer? The torrent world has plenty of louses, do we really have to be stuck with them? No, we the users aren't perfect, but surely neither are the clients!
DreadWingKnight Posted May 20, 2014 Report Posted May 20, 2014 There are so few users that could actually properly identify the bad guys in a swarm that giving users that level of control would turn them ALL into bad guys.
TrevorS Posted May 21, 2014 Author Report Posted May 21, 2014 I suppose you're probably right, it's just a shame the byte thieves have reign to game the clients and through them the users. uTorrent provides a macro weapon, but it's a sledgehammer whereas I'd prefer something more fine tunable! Still, maybe that's the way it should be -- any action at all against peers should be considered very carefully.
DreadWingKnight Posted May 21, 2014 Report Posted May 21, 2014 Just because they aren't uploading to you it doesn't mean they aren't uploading at all. There's the assumption people ALWAYS make and FAIL with when suggesting these features.
