At time of posting, the link to 3.4.2.32236 (on the release notes page) is currently incorrect.

Here's the correct link:

http://download-new.utorrent.com/uuid/30b8f924-077b-4e23-890c-97059930afc3

When clicking on a magnet link with 3.4.2.32236, the Add New Torrent window doesn't show (for me, anyway).

Reverting back to 3.4.2.33203

Ack, sorry for the broken link.  I pasted it as "http://http://", this has been fixed in the change log.

Mike, I'm really sorry about the magnet link issue.  My understanding has been that this is a separate issue that other folks have been working on -- but let me ask to make sure.  I understand here that you're working in standalone mode and simply replacing the binary when you switch versions.  Is that true, or are you doing upgrade installs and/or uninstall/install operations?  This would make a difference in how I think about that bug, since with a replacement of the binary it would be a bug in the client but if you're doing installs then it could be an issue in the new installer we're testing in this beta.

Would be nice if someone updated first beta post to link to http://download-lb.utorrent.com/endpoint/utorrent/os/windows/track/beta

It was the only link *cough rafi* *cough front page* that actually gives the latest beta.

Sorry Ryrynz, in posting the change log text I intended to post a link to the change log itself which has that link, and also post the link.  Here it is:

Again thanks for the suggestion.  I removed the link that was there because in posting new betas the link kept changing and that link was out of date or broken.  I would post the general beta link, but that link actually gives any of the number of currently active betas -- and the others don't currently have the new installer in them.

At this point y'all here will get the links in my posts re: new betas (assuming *ahem* that I don't forget the links as I did yesterday) -- and again thank you for your time and energy.  Anyone new who lands here is likely following the forum link shown in the new installer to report a problem they saw, meaning they did get our beta from that main link.

He wrote before that he replaces the file, which is the only way since the installer for standalone is broken, as I've proven with my video. ;)

The /recover switch (to start multiple instances) doesn't seem to work in the builds with the new installer. A message box pops up reading, "An older version of µTorrent is already running. Please shut down µTorrent and try again."

Ah, that's a new one.  Thank you Deagan, this is now in our list and I will aim to fix that in the coming week.

Nope, same issue with portable, please try again.

Please watch my video: http://www.twitch.tv/andreazvb/b/542564681

Thanks Andreas.  Unfortunately I can't say what the priority of addressing the auto-update of standalone would be.  It will be in our list, but as a fairly narrow use case it may need to be pushed down a bit.  Luckily replacing the binary works perfectly, I apologize for the inconvenience there but please consider that the way to update standalone mode.

talkingprawn: I might be missing something in the translation here: In your opinion, is the standalone *update* process (not replacing the file) fully functional or not? In simple words, does is just  replace the exe and runs it  (w/o the install dialog) or not? The claim here - is tיat it is not doing that!

Rafi - standalone update in the new installer is not currently functional, the only way with the new installer beta to update standalone mode is to manually replace the uTorrent.exe

Andreas - Thank you, we do understand the issue you're raising.  It is on our list and it's not a matter of how hard it is but rather a matter of how we need to prioritize the list so we can complete the items first which serve the most people.  I'm not saying it will not be done, I simply can't at this moment give any promise of when.  We will be looking into it asap to see how involved it is, and for all I know it may be easy and we'll be able to get it in soon.  For that matter, it may actually be the same fix as the /RECOVER issue reported recently... that's an easy fix and it may coincidentally fix this.

Again sorry for the inconvenience, and thank you for your time and effort here.

Ok thanks, will wait for any updates and continue to replace it in the mean time, not that I've already done that 100+ times already. :P

Now we know that it was meant to only replace it, initially.

It would've helped if you described it in little more detail: - Now supports standalone and portable mode (replace uTorrent.exe manually)

Emphasize mine.

Let me speculate here , and try and suggest a quick fix for the standalone issue:

The whole thing has started with you have decided to auto move uT to %appdata% + added the /updates path.

So, now, when you update, you run the new exe from this new path, and look for the settings at %appdata%\utorrent (exe_path).

Here is what you might want to change in the new installer:

1. Run the new exe

2. check if settings are at appdata, and only if so -  copy the exe to appdata if you need/have to ...

3. else check for the settings are at .\.. path (one folder up)

4. copy the new exe to that above path (.\..) if so, and run it.

This will always work, regardless of where the installer runs from. ...

Done!

-- 2014-07-18: Version 3.4.2 Beta (build 32456)
- Includes the latest stable build
- This is an update to the new installer beta
- Fixed autoupdate and "check for updates"
- added support for translated dialog boxes in pre-install process
- General display adjustments and minor behavior fixes

This fixes an auto-update problem and should fix the "check for updates" issues you were seeing.  I'm currently trying to finish a fix for the /RECOVER mode issue repaired here, that will be fixed in the next release.
